    Hi there,

    I have installed Wordfence security plugin on my website 6 months back and I have premium license as well.

    It used to work great without any issue all these days. It’s a great plugin and I am happy with its performance so far.

    Suddenly two days back my entire website was down and it was giving 504 Gateway Timeout error for any URL accessed. I cannot login as admin as well.

    In my debugging by disabling plugins one by one, I have found that site works fine after disabling Wordfence plugin.

    If I enable Wordfence plugin, then entire site goes down by giving 504 Gateway Timeout error.

    Here are few options that I have tried, but didn’t work for me.
    – Installed Wordfence Assistant and disabled firewall and tried to activate Wordfence Security plugin.
    – Deleted Wordfence Security plugin and reinstalled it’s latest version 6.3.22. But I am getting same problem when I try to activate.
    – Deleted existing wflogs folder. When I try to activate Wordfence Security plugin, then the folder getting created with default permissions of 775 for folder, 664 for rules.php and 660 for all other files inside the folder.
    If I change permission for the files to something different, then the files permission changed back when I activated Wordfence Security plugin.

    wflogs folder getting created with same username and group as other files and folders.

    It would be great helpful if anyone having similar issue with resolution share your knowledge.

    • Go to the Wordfence –> Tools –> Diagnostics page
    • Send the report to yann[at]wordfence[dot]com

    Hi @wfyann,

    As soon as Wordfence Security activated, I get 504 Gateway Timeout error for entire site.
    Cannot go to Diagnostics page as suggested.

    Is there any other way ?
