My website uses the Avada theme. Plugins: Avada Builder, Avada Core, WooCommerce, Wordfence Security. The content on the website hasn’t been updated in a year. I am now making updates and I am receiving a 503 error (on website and in WP admin) whenever I update the website’s content. The only way to ‘fix’ this issue is to use phpMyAdmin to remove active plugins. I reactivated Avada Builder and Avada Core – no errors. On activating WooCommerce I’m back to the 503.

My hosting company said that the only issues they could see was the Wordfence Security was blocking certain content being loaded.

Any help would be greatly appreciated with this!

Hi @mlestrnge, thanks for your question and detailing the circumstances of the issues appearing.

I think there’s enough reason after a year to try allowlisting any new plugin functions that might be blocked as false-positives. You can either add these requests to the allowlist via the Learning Mode?feature or from the Tools?> Live Traffic?page. Both allowlisting methods are detailed in our instructions here: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/learning-mode/

That should prevent the 503s, although if you continue to experience problems, please send us a diagnostic report just so we can check for possible configuration issues, or elements that might need extra attention. Send it to wftest @ wordfence . com directly from the link at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Thanks,
    Peter.

Hi Peter, I tried to allowlist any new plugin functions but can’t figure out where to do this? I’ve sent you the diagnostics report. Thanks

    Hi @mlestrnge,

You can allowlist by turning on Learning Mode or checking your Live Traffic page for the blocked actions, there’s details on how to do that here: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/learning-mode/

I would certainly try one or both of those methods first as I suspect it’ll fix the 503s you’ve been seeing. I can check your diagnostic if we have to take things a little further.

    Many thanks,
    Peter.
