Wordfence Security dashboard displays blank window and locks WordPress

  • When I click on Wordfence Dashboard in the Wordfence menu, the entire WordPress window gets greyed out and a blank white window is superimposed on it. The Wordfence Dashboard and WordPress menu are visible behind the white window, but the Wordfence Dashboard and the entire WordPress menu are locked, and there is no way to close the blank window. I can only exit this situation by clicking the browser’s Back button. Nothing else is clickable.

    All other WordPress functions and features are working normally (except when locked by the Wordfence Dashboard). I can access all the other Wordfence menu items normally, and can successfully make configuration changes and save them under the Wordfence | All Options menu item. Only the Wordfence | Dashboard menu item causes the blank window.

    This occurs under both Chrome Version 77.0.3865.90 and Internet Explorer 11 (haven’t tried other browsers). I’m using the free version of Wordfence.

  • Hi @marsrhodos,

    It sounds like there might be a plugin conflict somewhere. Can you open the developer’s console (F12 -> Console) and refresh the page to see if there are any errors there?

    Also, please go into the Network tab and let me know if you see any errors in loading any scripts/assets for your website.

    If you can let me know what plugins you have activated, this might also narrow down the search even further.

    Thanks for the quick response, Dave!

    The developer’s console shows errors (see below under CONSOLE OUTPUT). The first “Uncaught TypeError” has a red “2” preceding it; the second one is preceded by “285”, and the final “Uncaught TypeError” continuously increments for as long as the page is active.

    No errors visible under the Network tab.
