WordFence scans hanging

    Recently WordFence scans have been hanging.

    In Diagnostics, max_execution_time is 30

    I have set various options the time limit a scan can run, from 15 to 30 seconds without success.

    The log is for 25.

    The site has had no new plugins installed in the last 6 months.

    It’s also running on a LiteSpeed server.

    Could you please advise.

  • could be due to your Autoptimize cache getting too big @baldarch, consider disabling AO’s “also aggregate inline JS” and/ or “also aggregate inline CSS” to keep cache size under control and hence require less files to be scanned by wordfence?

    Thanks Frank for the suggestion.

    I deactivated AO, but there seems to be something else causing the timing out.

    Resolved by deactivating (with setting “Delete WordFence tables and data on deactivation”) and reactivating.

    Hi baldarch,
    It could be one of the “Scans to Include” options was enabled and causing this “max_execution_time” timeout, I suspect “Scan images, binary, and other files as if they were executable” option, when you deactivate the plugin with “Delete WordFence tables and data on deactivation” option checked, the database tables will be created again upon re-activation with the default settings, which seems to resolve this issue for you.
