    Hello,

The WordFence scan for my website has suddenly started timing out before it finishes scanning the site. It returns the following error: “The scan time limit of 3 hours has been exceeded and the scan will be terminated.”

The current scan settings are as follows:
“Time limit that a scan can run in seconds” – Blank
“How much memory should Wordfence request when scanning” – 256
“Maximum execution time for each scan stage” – 30

    Server environment details:
    Apache version 2.4.46
    linux OS
    PHP version 7.0.33

The PHP memory limit is set to 512M.

The error log states “PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 536870912 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 218474472 bytes) in /home/…/public_html/wp-includes/class-requests.php on line…” whenever I run the scan.

I have already run the scan in debug mode, but I can’t determine the root cause of the error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello @reedk55 and thanks for reaching out to us!

PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 536870912 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 218474472 bytes) in /home/…/public_html/wp-includes/class-requests.php on line would be pointing to where your memory was exhausted, not really what caused it. It does look like you might have a memory issue with your site though. Have you reached out to your host at all about your memory restrictions?

I can try to look and see what might be tipping the scale for your memory. Can you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

    Thanks again!

    Hello @wfadam

Thank you for responding so quickly! I have not reached out to my host yet, but I can definitely do that.

I actually ran the scan in debug mode yesterday and emailed the results to myself. I just now forwarded that email to [email protected] and included my forum username in the subject and in the body of the email.

    Hi @wfadam,

Were you able to view the diagnostic report and gain any insight on what might have been the problem that caused the scan to time out?

    Thank you.

Sorry for the delay! We currently don’t have weekend office hours.

It looks like you sent the Scan logs. Ill need a diagnostic to see what might be causing your memory to peak.
