    I am getting this problem:

    Call to Wordfence API to resolve IPs failed: We received an error response when trying to contact the Wordfence scanning servers. The HTTP status code was [0] and the curl error number was [7] and the error from CURL was: couldn’t connect to host

    I tried this:

    Click to test connectivity to the Wordfence API servers

    This connects to noc1.wordfence.com and shows you the status of the connection attempt. It is a way to verify that your server is able to communicate with our scanning server on both port 80 and the secure port 443.

    If this test fails, please open a support ticket with your hosting provider and ask them to ensure that your server is able to connect to noc1.wordfence.com on port 80 and port 443. They may have to allow your server to connect through a firewall or configure a proxy to allow this connection.

    I then followed up with my host and they confirmed that port 80 and port 443 are OK.

    What should I do next to try to fix the problem?

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

    I’m getting this error as well. I been using Wordfence for some time and haven’t had a problem till now.

    Thanks.

    Please, both of you, check to see if cUrl is installed (system info link on bottom of options page. Paste screenshot of it if you are unsure of what to look for.)

    tim

    Hi, exactly the same error occurring on my 2 WordPress 4.1, WordFence Premium accounts. They were able to connect 2 days ago, and now can not begin a Scan.
    Attached it proof that cUrl is installed and active.
    Have sent off a support ticket to Arvixe tech support to ask if they can identify the problem as well.
    Happy to supply any further investigative details that might assist.

    Kind Regards,

    Ed.

    @edwardcox,

    Maybe it is an Arvixe problem then? They are also my host. Everything was fine until 2 days ago.

    @tim,

    How do you paste a screenshot? Thank you.

    @ liquidity, might not be a coincidence that we’re both with Arvixe.

    I use a Mac, so to get my screen grab it’s Command, Shift, 4 (But that’s only on a Mac)

    Ed.

    I’m having the same problem. It started today (April 2 2015). I am also on Arvixe. I checked with them and they tell me that ports 80 and 443 are NOT blocked.

    According to the Wordfence System Info for PHP, curl is present.

    Here’s the Wordfence Connectivity Test:

    DNS lookup for noc1.wordfence.com returns: 69.46.36.8

    STARTING CURL http CONNECTION TEST….
    Curl connectivity test failed with response:

    Curl HTTP status: 0
    Curl error code: 7
    Curl Error: Failed to connect to noc1.wordfence.com port 80: Connection timed out

    STARTING CURL https CONNECTION TEST….
    Curl connectivity test failed with response:

    Curl HTTP status: 0
    Curl error code: 7
    Curl Error: Failed to connect to noc1.wordfence.com port 443: Connection timed out

    Starting wp_remote_post() test
    wp_remote_post() test to noc1.wordfence.com failed! Response was: Connection timed out after 10003 milliseconds

    Starting wp_remote_post() test
    wp_remote_post() test to noc1.wordfence.com failed! Response was: Connection timed out after 10002 milliseconds

    I’ll throw my connectivity page error as well:

    I cannot do the Wordfence connectivity test.

    I time out with a 524 error.

    WordFence scan has just successfully started ??

    No, I jumped the gun. It started then bombed out. Sorry.

    I just looked at my Wordfence activity log.

    The last successful scan with Wordfence was on April 1, 2015 at 04:11:18

    On April 1, 2015 I had another Wordfence scan at 19:28:42, but this time I had an error.

    I passed this information on to Arvixe.
