• When attempting to run the Wordefence scan the Scan Summary section shows several scans still in progress (forever).

Below that in the Scan Detailed section, it has this error:

“[Nov 11 14:32:26] Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 3585921 bytes) in /home/newmexss/public_html/shootingblog/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/wfConfig.php on line 444:”

At the bottom it says: “Congratulations! No security problems were detected by Wordfence.”

If it couldn’t complete the scan due to a shortage of memory, how can it conclude there were no security problems found?

  • Hi linkup,
As long as there is no issue reported by the scan you will see this message “Congratulations! No security problems were detected by Wordfence.”

The problem here is that the scan doesn’t finish due to memory limit issue, please check “Handling memory errors” section in “My scans don’t finish. What would cause that?” article.

Following these steps should be helpful too:
    – Go to (Wordfence > Diagnostics) page and search for “WP_MEMORY_LIMIT”, “WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT” and let me know the values assigned to them.
    – From (Wordfence > Diagnostics) page you can “Test your WordPress host’s available memory“.
    – Try excluding folders with large number of files on your server that you are sure they are safe (backup files, error/access logs and cache files), you can exclude these files from (Wordfence > Options => Exclude files from scan that match these wildcard patterns.)
    – Finally, you may need to try any of these methods to increase WordPress memory limit on your server.

    Thanks.
