    Hello!

I’m having trouble getting a Wordfence scan to complete on my client’s site. I’ve tried the LiteSpeed solution, increased the Max Execution up to 30 and don’t have the “scan files outside WP”, “high sensitivity” or “executable images” settings enabled. We should be using the Premium version of the plugin. The site is hosted through 1and1.com.

Here’s some info from the debug log…

Update…I was able to get the scan to complete by disabling:

    – Check the strength of passwords
    – Scan comments for known dangerous URLs and suspicious content
    – Scan posts for known dangerous URLs and suspicious content
    – Scan file contents for backdoors, trojans and suspicious code

The max execution time is set at 15.

If you have any suggestions on how to fix so we can leave these options enabled, I’d appreciate it! Thanks.

    Hi @sweettea2,

Could you try setting the Wordfence option “Max execution time for each scan stage” to 8.

We’ve seen cases on 1&1 hosting accounts where something on the servers would kill PHP processes.

We never found out what the actual cause is but a very low setting for the amount of time each fork is allowed to run helped; it should be lower than 10.

Let me know if this works in your case.

    Hi,

I have similar issue like sweettea2. When first installed everything worked great, I updated WP to the latest version and still no problems.

And today I open the admin page and WordFence is still running and showing the message:

“The current scan looks like it has failed. Its last status update was 5 minutes ago.
You may continue to wait in case it resumes or cancel and restart the scan.
Some sites may need adjustments to run scans reliably.”

It appears that the last finished scan was on 28 Nov 17.

I tried most of the steps in the support file but I am not an experienced user and I have no idea how to change the system’s configuration file. However I tried setting the “Max execution time for each scan stage” to 8, as you suggested above. Still to no avail.

Please note that I have barely any information on my site as it is a brand new WP installation, and I have only 2 active plug-ins – WordFence and WooCommerce. And in order to import some demo data to my Enfold theme I had to add more php memory in the wp-config file.

Could you please help. I have no idea what else to try.

    Thank you for your attention!

    Regards,
    Chris

    Hi @christina88,

I’m not sure this is the exact same issue. Therefore, as per the forum guidelines, could you please start a new topic so we can further assist you.
