Wordfence 5.3.4 installed on WordPress 4.1. When I click ‘Start A Wordfence Scan’, I see a spinner on the button for a few seconds, then the button returns to it’s previous state and nothing happens, no logs, no output stream, no nothing.

Already tried/check all steps here, no joy: https://support.wordfence.com/support/articles/1000010338-my-scans-are-not-starting-what-should-i-do-

Nothing in webserver error logs – webserver access starting filling up with entries like this when I view the Wordfence start scan page:

nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn is my desktop IP address.

My php error log caught these errors on install:

[14-Jan-2015 18:04:02] WordPress database error Table ‘mysitedb.wp_wfConfig’ doesn’t exist for query select val from wp_wfConfig where name=’disableConfigCaching’ made by activate_plugin, include_once(‘/plugins/wordfence/wordfence.php’), wordfence::install_actions, wordfence::runInstall, wfConfig::get, wfDB->querySingle
[14-Jan-2015 18:04:02] WordPress database error Table ‘mysitedb.wp_wfConfig’ doesn’t exist for query select val from wp_wfConfig where name=’cbl_restOfSiteBlocked’ made by activate_plugin, include_once(‘/plugins/wordfence/wordfence.php’), wordfence::install_actions, wordfence::runInstall, wfConfig::get, wfConfig::loadFromDiskCache, wfDB->querySingle
[14-Jan-2015 18:04:02] WordPress database error Table ‘mysitedb.wp_wfConfig’ doesn’t exist for query insert into wp_wfConfig (name, val) values (‘cbl_restOfSiteBlocked’, ‘1’) ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE val=’1′ made by activate_plugin, include_once(‘/plugins/wordfence/wordfence.php’), wordfence::install_actions, wordfence::runInstall, wfConfig::set, wfDB->queryWrite

…however the table mysitedb.wp_wfConfig does indeed exist.

Any suggestions?

Will you try “starting scans remotely” and see if that works? That will use our servers to connect to your server to scan.

Thanks for replying – as stated in my original post, that step has already been tried to no avail, it is one of the steps covered in this doc: https://support.wordfence.com/support/articles/1000010338-my-scans-are-not-starting-what-should-i-do-

What else do you suggest?

Are there any specific ports that I need to open on the server’s firewall, other than port 80?

Those ports are already open, and please note that I am not receiving any error messages from Wordfence, it simply does nothing when I try to start a scan. Telnet tests:

Gotcha. You might want to consider removing Wordfence and try reinstalling it. Have you tried that yet? Since there were errors on install I’d be suspicious.

That did it, thanks. I followed the steps as outlined in that post, with the additional stop of completely deleting then reinstalling the plugin (probably not needed, but what the hey). Scan works now.
