    Hello

A week and a bit ago I was having issues with IFTT on my blog. I have an applet to post new posts on social media. IFTT had disabled the applet as it was unable to connect to my blog.

I disabled a setting in Cloudflare blocking bots, and turned Wordfence to learning mode. Both of these things solved the issue and the IFTT applet worked.

Now Wordfence has come out of learning mode and the issue is happening again.

Would there be a rule that is interfering with IFTT?

    Thanks

    Hi @wpuser5,

If Learning Mode worked, but hasn’t allowlisted the action permanently, it’s possible that there’s a different ID (or other parameter) that is dynamically changed with each request so the transactions don’t match the ones that were previously allowed.

It’s feasible that clicking the “ADD PARAM TO FIREWALL ALLOWLIST” button after expanding a blocked request for this in your Live Traffic page may work instead. If not, are you able to relay to us the Live Traffic entry so that we can see the URL being attempted and block reason? You can add screenshots here if necessary using a service like Snipboard.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Hi @wfpeter,

    Thanks for your reply.

Here is a screenshot of some of the Live Traffic entries where access to xmlrpc.php has been blocked. I assume but I am not certain that one or more of these will be IFTTT.

I can’t see an “ADD PARAM TO FIREWALL ALLOWLIST” button.

Hi @wpuser5, thanks for the clarification and screenshot.

It is to my understanding that IFTTT uses and requires XML-RPC which is quite a popular route for bad bots/humans to use too, so many users choose to block access to this altogether. However, in your case I believe it is required.

If you haven’t taken manual action to blanket block XML-RPC in your .htaccess file yourself, please ensure the “Disable XML-RPC authentication” checkbox in Wordfence > Login Security > Settings is not selected/checked and try making some communications with IFTTT again. You may need to run tests in Learning Mode again, but only try that if it doesn’t work immediately.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
