  • Hey @clickp2p,

It looks like the post you linked to was having an issue with wp_mail() sending emails. This is a WordPress function that Wordfence uses, so it was likely some type of site issue.

Are you receiving any other emails from the site? If you try Forgot password? on the login page do you receive an email?

You can also test this by navigating to Tools > Diagnostics > Other Test, which is at the very bottom of the page. You’ll notice two options to send test emails.

Send a test email from this WordPress server to an email address
Send a test activity report email

Please let me know what you find.

    Thanks,

    Hello Gerroald!

I believe you did not fully understand my question.
After WF installation, sending emails from the WP site using the wp-mail function has been blocked.
I disabled Firewall and Bruteforce and still kept sending no emails.
To solve this problem I needed to install an SMTP Plugin and now it works fine through Sendgrid.
It really is safer to use a WP SMTP Plugin for sending emails than using PHP’s wp-mail in WordPress, as this sending has no authentication and therefore secured delivery is not guaranteed.
However, although Wordfence is the best Security Plugin for WP it still has one primary problem which is – block email from sending through WP.
You have to work around this or assign built-in functionality that allows Wordfence to use SMTP itself. So there would not be so many support requests for a chance so well known and never resolved.
I will do all the tests and I will send you by email report.

    Best Regards,

    Congratulations!

    Fortunately everything works fully.
I want to add that the ideal is the use of a WP Smtp Plugin to ensure the correct sending and receiving of emails from a WP site, especially if this site has a high traffic.
I think the right thing would be to have within Wordfence alerts about the use of wp-mail.php which also works, but with fewer guarantees. Even in the security aspect against hacking.
I also hope to have contributed to those who use this magnificent tool that is Wordfence, which already using the free version offers us numerous services.
Thank you very much and congratulations to the whole team!

    Hey @clickp2p,

Thanks for the update, and happy to hear you were able to find a solution.

It’s definitely better to use SMTP versus wp_mail() as it’s more reliable.

But I haven’t been able to recreate this issue. If you’d like to do some more testing I’d suggest trying Forgot password while Wordfence is enabled to see if the email sends. If it doesn’t send then try disabling Wordfence to see if it helps. Of course, you’ll want to disable the SMTP plugin.

However, if you’re comfortable with your solution and would rather not test I completely understand.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’ve gone ahead and marked this thread as resolved.

Please feel free to open another thread if you’re still having issues with Wordfence.

    Thanks,
