Hi, I’ve had trouble upgrading WordFence in the past, and now I’m having the same problem with 5.0.9. I’m still getting the same error:

    “Unpacking the package…

    Installing the plugin…

    Could not copy file. /home/publdsdy/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/readme.txt

    Plugin install failed.”

I am not a developer, so why this is happening is really beyond me. I’ve gone in through Filezilla and deleted the plugin–twice. Once after trying to download it again from WordPress, and again trying to install it through a .zip folder. Neither worked.

Any help or suggestions would be great!

    Thanks,
    -Michael

    [UPDATE]

I went ahead, deleted the WF file from FTP, and then unzipped the 5.0.9 zip folder. I deleted the readme file, and re-zipped it. I then uploaded it, and it was fine.

Why is the readme file breaking the upgrade??

Not sure, this sounds like a permissions issue specific to your installation.

    Regards,

    Mark.
