• I totally love wordfence but I could do without the dozens of messages I get daily for every attempted login from bots.

I really appreciate emails for actual logins – because I have single user blogs and I am the only one logging in.

But all the other non-urgent non-critical emails are a nuisance and despite trying to tweak the settings the email deluge continues.

Can I be as granular and detailed as I want or do I have to put up email avalanches as the price of security?

BTW for the number of emails hourly I have set 3, the number I get is around 15.

    Any suggestions welcome

    Thanks

PS on the Advanced options page I have the 3 bottom options checked and all the others unchecked.

  • As a test, set your hourly emails to 0. You should not get any email while this is set. If you are, let me know and we can troubleshoot further.

Right now this is how our alerts system works. It may change in the future. Maybe setting up email rules or filters would help clear up some clutter. I know some people have a gmail account setup for alert email with rules/triggers to forward to a primary account when certain criteria is met.

Thanks for the suggestion – I have just deleted 60 emails before I saw it!

So I have set the number of alerts to zero but I noticed that text beside that box says “0 or empty means unlimited alerts will be sent” and to me that means that even more emails will show up!

    We’ll see!

The torrent of emails – 14 or 15 every few hours in a pulse, continues. Everything else about the plugin seems perfect – it spotted some dodgy code in a couple of other plugins yesterday.

I have wordfence installed on other blogs and this is the only one with odd behaviour. The hosting, theme, plugins etc all seem to be the same.

    Any ideas?
