Wordfence keeps deactivating itself on my site.

I’m not 100% sure – but it seems it might be doing so after an auto-update?

Is there a way to prevent this? Is there something in the settings that would do this?

    Please advise…

If it keeps deactivating on its own then it seems it’s security value is nil.

FYI: I am the only admin on the site.

  • Hello pttony,
I would guess Wordfence is not actually deactivating itself but is being deactivated by some other process on your server. Do you have any other security plugins installed?

I’m not running any other security plugins. I had installed a “debug” plugin but I’ve uninstalled that.

Are there any know compatibility issues with specific plugins… yoast SEO, w3 total cache, wp optimize? Others?

    Hello again pttony,
conflicts with other plugins do not generally manifest in that way but I suppose it’s possible. WordPress plugins are automatically deactivated if the plugin tries to load but the plugin file can not be found. Can you think of any reason why the the wordfence.php file might disappear even for just a short while?

Could you try turning off automatic updates of the plugin for a bit and see if you still have issues?

I have this problem. Often when Wordfence wants to auto-update following error is generated:
wordfence\wordfence.php could not be found and therefore has been deactivated.

We are starting an e-shop soon and it is imperative that Wordfence must stop leaving our site vulnerable to attacks like this.
