Wordfence is scanning untraceable comments

  • I have a Wordfence installation that appears to be scanning comments that I cannot locate on the site.
    They are the usual spam suspects referring to fashion products but the site Comments show none of this type of activity and there is nothing in the Comments Spam or Trash folders, nor anything more in the database_comments.

    I’m using the free version so presume this is not the Advanced Comment Spam Filter dealing with these spam comments before they even appear on my site.

    Any suggestions as to where these are coming from?

    I need to approve.

    Brian, if I could interject, I don’t think the advanced spam comment filter should not be dealing with them. Are you running Akismet or an alternative comment system, like Intensedebate?
