As I write this ticket, I am deleting wordfence off a site for the 4th time for interferring in site operation. this time not allowing me to reset a password.

I will not be reinstalling wordfence on this site and probably will be removing it off my other sites.

Enough interference is enough I do not have time to deal with this kind of crap from a plugin that was ok before the last update.

    As I write this ticket

There are no “tickets” here, only topics being answered by volunteers. The Wordfence folk here are volunteers and you are a user, not a customer. It’s an important distinction here.

If you are a customer then you’ll need to ask for support on their site.

Well forgive me. I guess my 13th 16 hour workday in row must have clouded my tired perception as I as trying to fix the lockout and get a support thread running. I will try harder next time.

To fix this problem I had to use phpmyadmin to empty all the wf tables and then drop them.
the go thru the database and delete all the references to wordfence
then go fix the login so I could get in to fix the site.
reenable all the plugins being used
and reset the recover password page so it would display the form.

This is the link from the wordfence alert
The Wordfence administrative URL for this site is: https://www.hpd-fff.com/wordpress/wp-admin/admin.php?page=Wordfence

Goes nowhere to help a user recover their password.

This did not used to be an issue. I suggest you should fix this so an alert is ok. Locking an admin out of the site is not ok. Or just locking out a registered user trying to reset their password is not ok either.

so are you wordfence people going to answer my question about why wordfence blocked me from password recovery or not. Like I said an alert is ok but send the reason for blocking with the alert and how to recover the password without all the crap I had to do get access to my site back in my control.

I have found over the years that the type of responses for a free support usually are indicative of what I found when paying my money.

Since you all got PO that I did not roll over at your criticism of my original post in a hurry, I will close this thread and chalk it up to experience . A poor experience too.

The next time I have to delete files to get control of my site back I will remember to get the waf files too. Another sad experience
