WordFence email envelope-from

  • Hello, I love this plugin, thanks for your excellent service.

    I noticed that the automated admin emails sent by WordFence are often incorrectly tagged as “spam.” It looks like the messages are sent with an “envelope from” header equivalent to [email protected] and the “return-path” is set based on that; but then the return-path doesn’t match the “From” header of [email protected] (Minimal research suggests this can happen when a php mailer object has an empty “sender” attribute but I don’t know if that’s relevant here.)

    I have poked around but can’t discover a system setting on my end that will affect this message header. Is this something that would have to be addressed in an updated version of the plugin, or is there something I can do to fix this on my system? Thanks so much!

    Wordfence v. 6.1.17 on standard shared hosting (Diagnostics page shows green check marks ?? )

    Thanks a lot for the info. We will look into this and see if we can find a solution. I do not think there is anything you can do on your end. If there is, I will let you know. We will see if there is something we can do on our end and get it worked out in a future release.
