This is a new one. I’m installing WordFence on a new site, and this is the first time I’ve been asked to install a license key. Only, WF hangs hard and crashes before it finishes installation and I can’t get to the configuration options. It’s locked up so hard that I’ve had to use FTP to delete the plugin.

The error that comes up is the sad folder face, with the error message “Error code: RESULT_CODE_HUNG”

New site is using WP 6.3.1, and I’ve deleted and reinstalled WF twice now, same result… a major hang when trying to get the “Firewall” or “All Options” pages to load.

Hi @fpmsummer, thanks for reaching out.

The result of “RESULT_CODE_HUNG” seems to be related to Google Chrome itself trying to access corrupt/full local cache or cookies data while trying to load the sites. Try to clear cookies and cache in Chrome or try with an incognito window to see if you can get this error to clear.

After this, as it’s your first time installing since we updated the free license requirements, check our video at: https://www.wordfence.com/help/api-key/#installing-your-free-license-key

There’s no limit to how many free license keys a single email address can obtain, we just changed the process slightly last year. Your existing sites that were installed without a manually obtained key will continue to work.

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

I have rebooted Chrome several times, and my laptop twice, and Wordfence still will not let me configure it, each and every time throwing that “pages not responding” error.

I will keep working on the site, and try again after the content has been added, but I have no idea why this one single site is doing this.
