I have a local web server set up (using WAMP) and am running WP 4.8.1. When i install and activate Wordfence, it crashes and gives me a “this site cannot be reached”. I can go back to the dashboard and back into plugins but again if i try to activate the plugin I get an error.

I’m just using the Twenty Sixteen theme and have even deactivated all other plugins but still cannot get Wordfence to activate. I’ve checked the list of unsupported plugins and none of those are on the site.

I have tried this setup on more than 10 computers (as it’s a sample site I use for WP training), and having no luck what the issue is.

    Any suggestions?

  • Hi @thetraininglady,

The issue you’re describing seems to be happening in WAMP environments using PHP 5. I found other topics where users mentioned an upgrade to PHP 7 fixed the problem.

Could you please go to the Wordfence System Info page:

    • Go to the Wordfence Tools page
    • Click the Diagnostics tab
    • In the Other Tests section, click the link that reads “Click to view your system’s configuration in a new window”
    • And check the value associated with the following parameter:

    • PHP Version

In other cases, the issue was related to Apache’s ThreadStackSize which needed to be increased.

Thank you for the reply. It ended up being the Apache ThreadStackSize which has fixed the problem.
