I’ve tried following other forums on this but since updating my Wordfence plugin – nothing is working.

    – – – WARNING AT TOP:

Wordfence could not get an API key from the Wordfence scanning servers when it activated. You can try to fix this by going to the Wordfence “options” page and hitting “Save Changes”. This will cause Wordfence to retry fetching an API key for you. If you keep seeing this error it usually means your WordPress server can’t connect to our scanning servers. You can try asking your WordPress host to allow your WordPress server to connect to noc1.wordfence.com.
    – – –

    1. The scan won’t start
    2. The “Congratulations!” box constantly appears asking to ‘enter your email’ – which makes no difference – it says an email has been sent, but it hasn’t.
    3. I have no htaccess file in wp-content or wp-content/plugins
    4. Workfence Diagnostics all seem okay.
    5. NOTHING I configure in wordfence seems to save.

    ANY ADVICE… ANYONE?!

  • I hoped that today’s update might have fixed the problem but it hasn’t made any difference for the sites that have been giving me grief.

    Hello StuartinOz,
we have not included a fix for this in the latest version because the issue surfaced too close to the deadline. Have you checked to see if your tables are being deleted or quarantined by some virus scanner?

The sites that we’ve encountered problems with are all fairly basic setups with no virus scanning plugins.

When looking through the diagnostics for the site I’m looking at right now I see this error message

    ‘./shauuppe_kv83fl/wp_wfConfig.MYD’ not found (Errcode: 2)

    Hello StuartinOz,
you woudn’t by any chance be hosted on Napecheap?

Yes that website is on Namecheap

I am having the same issue. I have Wordfence installed and I am hosted on Namecheap.

Deactivating Wordfence helped. I will leave it deactivated until there is an update.

    Thanks StuartinOz,
there seems to be an issue particular to Namecheap hostings setup. We will look in to it and get back to you asap.

    Thank you very much

I am having the same issue and use Namecheap hosting. My issue started when I updated Wordfence a couple days ago.

    Hello everyone,
for those of you who are experiencing missing wfConfig tables on Namecheap hosting we would like some help.

We added a fix today for a false positive caused by Maldet. We have reports of ClamAV doing something similar which might be fixed but we are not sure yet. We are also not sure which virus cleaner it is that is removing the tables on Namecheap hosting. If you are still experiencing the issue of missing wfConfig tables on Namecheap hosting in the next couple of days, please get back to us. Thanks in advance.

I am still having the same issue. Wordfence will not save any changes under Options. I tried deleting the plugin and reinstalling and activating. It still is not working after the reinstall. My hosting is through Namecheap.

Yep – nothing has changed for me either. It’s not having an impact on every site we have with Namecheap but it’s not going away for the ones that five that are affected.

    stacymac,
have you tried deleting Wordfence tables before you reactivate? There is a setting for that in “Options” page. Choose “Delete Wordfence tables and data on deactivation?”, deactivate and then reactivate. See if that helps.

    StuartinOz,
thanks for reporting back. We have been informed that Namecheap has made some adjustments to prevent false positives in the future and we have a few people saying they are ok on Namecheap now. Any chance you could check with Namecheap and ask why it’s only happening on some of your sites?

I checked the box to delete tables but it will not save the changes I make on the Options page. It gives an error that I need to fill in an amount for Live Traffic to save. I put a number for lines to save then it says I selected a config option that requires a page reload. When I reload, the delete tables option is unchecked.

Hi wfasa – sorry for the delay in getting back to you – I was away at WordCamp on the Sunshine Coast in Qld presenting on basic security for WordPress websites.

We’ll talk to the host about the problem and see what they have to say.
