• Hello, i can’t seem to get WordFence to start working.
I installed it and i am getting this error:

Wordfence could not get an API key from the Wordfence scanning servers when it activated. You can try to fix this by going to the Wordfence “options” page and hitting “Save Changes”. This will cause Wordfence to retry fetching an API key for you. If you keep seeing this error it usually means your WordPress server can’t connect to our scanning servers. You can try asking your WordPress host to allow your WordPress server to connect to noc1.wordfence.com.

I tried fixing it by hitting the Save Changes button like suggested, did not work.

After that i contacted my host (Namecheap) and they told me they are not blocking anything and the problem isn’t on their end.

I deactivated it, activated it again, deactivated and removed it, installed it again, no success.

I don’t know how to resolve this at this point.

  • Hi albert96,
Please make sure of two things:
    – Your server can connect to Wordfence servers, go to (Wordfence > Diagnostics => Connectivity).
    – Your database user has all privileges on your database, check that with your hosting provider.

Let me know how it goes,
    Thanks.
