    Hi,

When I update plugins I get message that starts with “Update Failed” then gives a huge string of stuff that looks it’s from various parts of the website. For example here’s just a snippet of the message:

    “<!DOCTYPE html> <!–[if lt IE 9]> <![endif]–> <!–[if IE 8]> <![endif]–> <!–[if IE 7]> <![endif]–> Page not found –> img.wp-smiley, img.emoji { display: inline !important; border: none !important; box-shadow: none !important; height: 1em !important; width: 1em !important; margin: 0 .07em !important; vertical-align: -0.1em !important; background: none !important; padding: 0 !important; } var rsssl_share_url = window.location.href.repl”

This only happens when Wordfence is activated (I’ve tested deactivating all other plugins). Wordfence is updated to the latest version.

I also already deleted the Wordfence folder from the server FTP, then reinstalled a fresh copy (I saw this recommended by support in other threads here). However, that didn’t fix it either.

    What to do now?

  • Yep, I had this and other errors and a WSOD with the last update. It’s history on the sites I had it installed.

    Hi @trankuility,

I think perhaps a firewall rule is being triggered, but instead of the forbidden message showing, a not-found page is showing.

Can you check Wordfence -> Tools -> Live Traffic (right after attempting to update plugins) to see if there are any rows that are being blocked?

    Dave
