Wordfence Causing Cloaking Errors? Google Ads Account Suspended

    Hello

    I have just started running ads for my website, but then I got a mail that the ad account is shut down due to cloacking and circumventing Google system. I have never used anything close to cloacking on my website, so I am afraid that may be wordfence is blocking any of Google’s bots. I have set WAF as learning mode and “How should we treat Google’s crawlers?” as “Verified Google crawlers will not be rate limited.”

    There is no other way for google to think that I am cloaking

    They have also Mentioned this:

    Manipulating site content or restricting access to so many of your landing pages that it makes it difficult to meaningfully review your ad, site, or account

    So Maybe one of Wordfence’s settings is causing all this confusion?

    Hi @sreejan1508, thanks for reaching out about this.

    I’ve not seen this specific reason cited by Google in relation to anything Wordfence does, but am more than happy to try taking a look.

    Firstly, just cast your eyes over the following: Rate Limiting Screenshot

    • If anyone’s requests exceed – 240 per minute
    • If a crawler’s page views exceed – 120 per minute
    • If a crawler’s pages not found (404s) exceed – 60 per minute
    • If a human’s page views exceed – 120 per minute
    • If a human’s pages not found (404s) exceed – 60 per minute
    • How long is an IP address blocked when it breaks a rule – 30 minutes

    They aren’t necessarily the settings you should have in all cases, but are normally a solid starting point. The key information here for you might be to Throttle instead of Block. Throttling is generally better than blocking with crawlers because any good search engine understands what has happened if it is mistakenly blocked and your site isn’t penalized because of it.

Send it to wftest @ wordfence . com directly from the link at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.
