Hello, I have a wordpress site hosted by ovh. Since a few weeks I noticed the appearance of error 500 on my site when I open many pages at same time. So I wrote to ovh’s support so that they could consult the error reports to help me identify the source of the problem and help me solve it if it came from their servers. After analysis they wrote me back that the problem is not in the server.
So i tried to deactivate all plugins and i discovered the cause, wordfence.
Can you help me to solve?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @cronogargaros, thanks for getting in touch.

I can’t see any key communication or permissions issues that might suggest the plugin is working incorrectly with your site. However, I do see that your max_execution_time in your php.ini is 165 rather than the 60 we recommend, and wp_memory_limit in wp-config.php is 40M, when it should be set to 128M or 256M, so the 500 errors could be caused by timeouts or memory being maxed out during scans or periods of heavy activity on your site.

I’d recommend changing the above and then keeping an eye on your Wordfence scan settings. Go to your Scan > Scan Options and Scheduling page and locate the “Performance Options”. Set “Maximum execution time for each scan stage” to 20 on the options page.

Let me know if this reduces the number of 500 errors you’re seeing!

    Peter.

    Hi @cronogargaros,

Were you able to change any of the other settings as the maximum execution time on the scan itself may in itself correct the issue with timeouts. wp-config.php should be in your WordPress installation folder so shouldn’t be a limitation with shared hosting.

Feel free to ask your host about any of these settings if you’re unable to find the files or settings yourself as they may be able to address some of them on your behalf.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
