I have (twice now) received the following email from my site regarding wordfence:

    Hii!

WordPress has a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Wordfence Security.

First, visit your website (https://www.eventricity.biz/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://www.eventricity.biz/wp-admin/) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

If your site appears broken and you can't access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special "recovery mode". This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

    https://www.eventricity.biz/wp-login.php?action=enter_recovery_mode&rm_token=JSvSVwhUPaIqfBEcCuc259&rm_key=kpxb4Dpn1Jdz0VxwUR7tEu

To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don't worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires.

When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:

    WordPress version 6.2.2

Active theme: Bridge Child (version 1.0.0) Current plugin: Wordfence Security (version 7.10.0) PHP version 7.4.33

    Error Details

    =============

An error of type E_COMPILE_ERROR was caused in line 24 of the file /home/evenybiz/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/views/reports/activity-report.php. Error message: require(): Failed opening required '/home/evenybiz/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/views/reports/../../lib/flags.php' (include_path='.:/opt/cpanel/ea-php74/root/usr/share/pear')

On logging into the site, everything seems OK, but the error has come back again.

Hi @mark_holtom, thanks for your detailed message.

I have recently seen a case where a host was removing?wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/flags.php?because of a false-positive malware signature in another tool they use to scan sites on their platform. Their error matches the one you’re seeing.

The first step would be to reinstall Wordfence to rectify the missing flags.php, then wait to see if this error comes up again over time. If it does, it might be worth reaching out to your host to see if they’re removing it in the way I described above. You can opt to keep the Wordfence data when prompted on your Plugins > Installed Plugins page to avoid losing your settings during the reinstall.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
