Hello, im running wordfence awesomely since years.

Recently i’m using a plugin for stopping peoples blocking ads, called Deblocker by merkulove.

Now: this plugin works using mainly 3 algorithms. First one works perfectly with Wordfence, but if i set the second one (that generates random folders in plugin directory) Wordfence INSTANTLY kills it, deleting all plugin files.

I tried adding the plugin directory to the allowed list on Wordfence options, but nothing changed.

There is a way to make this works withouth having Wordfence trashing the plugin? Thanks

Hi @tux1, thanks for getting in touch and pleased you’ve been enjoying Wordfence!

Would it be possible to clarify for me whether “deleting all plugin files” refers to deleting the newly created random folders, or do you mean the entire Deblocker plugin is being removed? Removing plugins altogether doesn’t sound like the kind of behavior I would expect from Wordfence.

I will clarify at this point that adding files or folders to WordPress core and plugin locations isn’t considered good practice. Wordfence checks WordPress and plugin repositories so will pick up differences as part of a malware scan. However, you can choose to ignore these scan results from showing in future if you’re happy to make an exception.

Learning Mode while logged in as an admin could help. You can turn on any time for testing from the Wordfence Dashboard, by clicking on Manage WAF. Then you will see Basic Firewall Options > Web Application Firewall Status. Change the option to Learning Mode. Now perform the actions that you’ve been having problems with. Wordfence may learn that the actions taking place at this time are normal and will allow them in the future. After you have finished testing, make sure to switch the WAF from Learning Mode back to Enabled and Protecting.

Let me know how you get on!
    Peter.

Hello wfpeter and thanks for the answer.

So, yes, Wordfence totally deleted the entire Deblocker plugin files (all of it, every single file of the plugin and the plugin itself).

Might not sound like wordfence behaviour, but it is.

I solved excluding the plugin folder from scan.
