Hi, Wordfence has been working and I’ve been pleased it’s been able to block a lot of crawler traffic, but it’s been getting slower and slower at refreshing the blocked IP lists and live traffic. Now I can’t get the blocked IPs list to show at all (is it because it’s trying to fill in the count data?). It just says ‘Wordfence working…’ forever. It has worked previously (although slowly).

This particular little site is apparently on some kind of bot network which means it gets a massive amount of traffic from crawlers – which I’m trying to remove.

What I really want is just a plain list of IPs that have been blocked/throttled, so that I can block them permanently – or alternatively a button which says ‘Block them all forever’.

It would also be a lot easier if the page didn’t refresh every time I clicked it (makes it so slow!). Could we have an option for manual refresh instead?

Is there any other reason the page loads might be this slow?

    Many thanks.

  • Are you on a ‘good deal’ shared hosting plan?

I administer sites hosted at many different providers. Certainly Wordfence can perform as in this thread on cheaper shared hosting plans.

For my favorite fast and inexpensive Host you can contact me through CannonBeachComputers dot com. [as i’m sure any kind of a link here is instantly frowned upon and i’d get barred for life or something]

Anyways, the short of it, your hosting plan and it’s attendant architecture can make the difference between frustration & fast ‘n fun ..

thanks for your response aspasa – I am not looking for someone to advise on a new host , I am actually looking for an answer from Wordfence. I was going to upgrade to the paid section, but I cannot find any compelling reasons of yet, to do this. The service is non-existent.

    My reasons being:

9,550 failed log in attempts in a six hour period.
The amount of Spam on my site – and when I google search – I see this spam
None, whatsoever communication to answer my questions about what has happened or any links to send me in the right direction to see what is going on or to help me out

I am baffled – can someone remind me why Wordfence is so great?
Yes, I am annoyed and getting a little more vocal now, but when I read about people who have had 50 log in attempts – I have to laugh. You read that correctly above that was 9 THOUSAND, five hundred and fifty attempts. This is not an exaggeration – I had to delete each and every email alert from my iphone, one at a time.

Since then I am unable to access the BLOCKED IP’s on Wordfence, I get a blank page and from what I have gleaned on the net, others have had this problem too – this was since 28th July, so why not own up and say and then I can move on to trying to get this sorted.

In the meantime, I have continual spam, and can’t block them. Is it just me?

I will be the squeaky door until I get a response from someone, anyone!
My latest failed scan read : Call to Wordfence API to resolve IPs failed: WordFence API error: Wordfence is currently experiencing high load and is giving priority to paid customers.

Is this a message for me to pay but I still am flabbergasted as to why I should at this point, if I can’t get any response or support. I don’t find a compelling reason to pay yet.

When I use or buy a product, the support and customer service is a huge factor.

off my soap box for the time being……
