Wordfence is now reporting that it’s blocking the static IP of the website itself (I removed the full IP address from this post)

    << Snip >>
    Top IPs Blocked
    24 Hours7 Days30 Days
    IP Country Block Count
    173.247.*.* United States 104
    << /Snip >>

However, the IP isn’t showing up in the list of blocked IPs. But, it’s showing up in the top blocked report table.

And now the cache plugin – wp fastest cache and Autoptimize – can’t cache the site pages properly.

How do I get wordfence to ignore the website’s own static IP. it’s crazy that the firewall within wordfence is blocking itself.

  • Hey @dessertguru,

Can you please share the expanded details of the block in Wordfence > Live Traffic so we can see why it’s getting blocked?

If you have a static IP I’d suggest whitelisting it in Wordfence > All Options > Advanced Firewall Options

    Thanks,

    HI @wfgerald

Thanks for the reply… here’s the live traffic hit:

    Activity Detail
United States left https://www.wickedcitykitchen.com/tag/pastry/ and was blocked for Manual block by administrator at https://www.wickedcitykitchen.com/tag/pastry/
    2/12/2020 11:24:03 PM (1 day 16 hours ago)
    IP: 173.247.248.24 Hostname: 173.247.248.24
    Human/Bot: Bot
    WP Fastest Cache Preload Bot

And I can confirm that it’s whitelisted. That’s why I’m confused as to why wordfence keeps blocking it when it’s whitelisted.

There’s no manual block in place. I don’t know why WF is reporting that.

    Hi @dessertguru

Not all blocks are listed in the list of blocked IP addresses in the on the Firewall >> Blocking page as that list would grow too quickly.

You will see in the user agent WP Fastest Cache Preload Bot.

This is functionality being carried out by the cache preloading feature of the WP Rocket cache plugin.

The block reason “was blocked for Manual block by administrator” means that you have created a manual block for your server IP address 173.247.248.24 which you will need to unblock on the Firewall >> Blocking page.
