I’m attempting to activate the Wordfence Application Firewall, I cannot complete an automatic installation, due to what I’m assuming is an incompatibility with the WordPress uploading feature which I have modded to allow for an SSH login instead of FTP.

Once reaching the upload screen and pressing continue it just goes back to the first installation screen.

So I completed the manual installation instead and restarted the httpd service but it’s still asking me to configure the Wordfence Application Firewall.

I’m also wondering about this file
/var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/waf/bootstrap.php, the folder and the file don’t exist. Is it supposed to be created during the installation process that I can’t complete? If so, how is the manual installation process supposed to work?

    Hi Jason,

Is /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/ the full path to the Wordfence plugin on your server?

    Yes

EDIT: that is where Wordfence is sitting currently.

If that’s the full path, the file /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/waf/bootstrap.php should exist. If it doesn’t, can you reinstall Wordfence? You should be seeing a fatal error on your site if it doesn’t.

If you’ve updated your php.ini with the auto_prepend_file setting, you should be able to see that value under Wordfence > Diagnostics > Click to view your system’s configuration in a new window (at the bottom), then find auto_prepend_file under Core.

Okay, yeah after refreshing that directory it finally showed up and the “activate WAF” notification went away.
