    Hello,

it seems that when the WF plugin is enabled, the server cache which is based on nginx/php-fpm fastcgi caching, is bypassed. The Headers always show x-fastcgi-cache: MISS

It sure makes sense for the firewall to be able to capture the page request as first instance, but is there a way or setting to have the server cache still deliver the cached pages and (big) galleries to the visitors?

    Thanks in advance
    JT

Well, thanks for the advice stefanozinnanti, but we all know that the internet is an unsafe place to live in..

Still, any other technical suggestions would be appreciated!

Hello @jannis01 and thanks for reaching out to us!

Can you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

    Thanks!

Thanks for sending that diagnostic over!

Let’s try Learning Mode before we try anything else. From the Wordfence Dashboard click on Manage WAF. Then you will see Basic Firewall Options > Web Application Firewall Status. Change the option to Learning Mode. Now perform the actions that were causing issues. This will help Wordfence learn that these actions are normal and it will allow them in the future. After you have finished performing the actions, switch the WAF from Learning Mode back to Enabled and Protecting. Now test to see if these actions work correctly.

https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/learning-mode/ is an amazing resource for learning more about the WAF and learning mode.

Try this and let’s see what happens. I am assuming all works correct when Wordfence is disabled, right? Also, check your Wordfence > Tools > Live Traffic for any blocks regarding this.

    Thanks!

    Hello Adam,

    it seems to work now.
I’ve switched the Firewall settings from learning back to enabled and also tweaked the nginx/fastcgi configuration accordingly. On reloading of a page i can see now the “x-fastcgi-cache:” header being set to HIT.

Again, thanks for your time and the support.

    Regards,
    JT
