    Hi there

So I have multiple site which are suddenly now asking for addition verification required based on Googles Recaptcha. I assume this must be a bug since our user isn’t receiving a low score (I know because I checked) and since we have now experienced this on multiple sites all using WF.

Is there some sort of obviously issue happening now?

Our only solution is to deactivate WF/ put our IP into a whitelist (but that is not a solution for all the clients)

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @gokuofuin

    Thanks for reaching out!

In order to better assist you, can I get a bit more information on this issue?

Do you have Wordfence’s Recaptcha option enabled?

Do you intend on using Recaptcha?

You can see if it is enabled by going into your Wordfence Login Security Settings.

Are you using any plugins to create a custom login form?

    Please let me know?

    Thanks,

    Joshua

    Howsit Josh

Ya we do use recapture, we have the settings enabled in WF for that. We have been using it for our various sites for years now.

We do not use any custom logins, we just use the normal WP login. (I checked using a submission capture by the way to check the level returned by the google authentication and it was a score of 0.9 so very acceptable)

    Hi @gokuofuin

    Thanks for letting me know!

Can you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Thanks,

    Greetings Josh

I have sent the email using the Diagnostic feature.

    I hope that helps!

Oh by the way Josh I also sent the email from one of our live sites which has the same issue.

    Hi @gokuofuin

    Thanks for sending that over!

We recommend setting to ReCaptcha to the 1.0 (definitely a human) threshold to see if it stops the emails and allows users to log in successfully.

Please let me know how it goes?

    Thanks!

    Greetings Josh

That unfortunately did not help, it still doesn’t allow us to login. It still displays the “requires more identification”. Its quite a serious issue since we are having to either disable wordfence or whitelist our IP from recapture.

    Hi @gokuofuin

    Sorry for the delayed response.

reCAPTCHA may not be working properly since one of your sites is not publically visible.

There are no visible JavaScript errors either.

Your site https://exuviance.dmndevstage.co.za/ is forbidden at server level before PHP executes, so Wordfence, and by extension reCAPTCHA are not going to work properly there.

I can’t appear to check it so that could be an issue with inbound communication with Wordfence and Google’s reCAPTCHA scripts.

Can you please let us know if there are any JS errors in the browser console when it’s enabled, if not, does reCAPTCHA work when Wordfence is the only plugin enabled with a default theme?

Could you please try running Wordfence alone with a default theme such as Twenty Twenty-Two and all other plugins disabled? If the behavior stops, re-enable everything else one-by-one until the loading issue reoccurs. You may find a particular plugin is breaking our login page code. If you can’t get the page to work properly under any conditions, by all means take a look at your browser console and use a service like Snipboard to screenshot any red error messages you may be seeing there.

You may need to install a maintenance mode plugin during this period of testing. Let me know how you get on.

    Thanks,

    Joshua
