• Hello,

I have used Wordfence for a long time (free version), but recently the email notifications I get weekly, they are no longer showing any activity – it just says ‘No Data Currently’ on every topic (IP blocked, failed logins, etc).

It has started in the past few weeks.

I asked SiteGround if they were blocking or flagging the plugin since I read somewhere online that that could be the case, but they said no, and suggested I ask you here.

    Hope you can help.

    Thank you, I appreciate it.

    Hi @johannamia,

It does seem unusual that a site may suddenly stop logging any activity and could be down to a change made by a host to load balancers, firewalls, CDNs, etc. that require a change to also be made in Wordfence. Although sometimes quiet periods are possible in terms of malicious traffic, that doesn’t necessarily seem to be what’s happening here on the face of it.

If Wordfence is working as intended, attempts will be logged in?Live Traffic.?Are there blocks and other activity here or is that page also blank (or showing nothing since a certain date)?

I find a good test is to enter?/made-up-page.php?in?Wordfence > All Options > Advanced Firewall Options > Immediately block IPs that access these URLs?and visit it from my phone with mobile data (so you don’t block the same wifi network you’re using for your main device). You should see the Wordfence block page on your phone and the corresponding security event in Live Traffic if everything is working as it should.

If all activity has still stopped, do you see any red errors on your Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page related to connectivity or permissions?

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I went to Firewall settings -> Blocking -> and there I see a notification saying: "Note: Blocking is disabled when the option "Enable Rate Limiting and Advanced Blocking" is off."

Should this be turned on? (I don't know much about these/tech things).

On the Live Traffic page, I do see the traffic.

Another question while I have you here if you don't mind:

I see the Firewall protection is on 40%, and the notification saiys I can do these things to improve it:

    Enable Real-Time IP Blocklist.

    16%

    Optimize the Wordfence Firewall.

    8%

Enable Rate Limiting and Advanced Blocking.

Can you tell me where to do this, if it's a good idea to do them? (I have the free version).

About the the test you suggested; I got this error message when I put the URL where you said I should put it (Allowlisted IP addresses that bypass all rules):

An error occurred while saving the configuration: Please make sure you separate your IP addresses with commas. The following allowlisted IP addresses are invalid: (https://mywebsite.com/made-up-page.php)

    Am I doing it wrong?

On the Diagnostic page I see this in red:

Connecting back to this site via IPv6 (not required; failure to connect may not be an issue on some sites

wp_remote_post() test back to this server failed! Response was: cURL error 7: Couldn't connect to server

Thank you again for your help, I appreciate it.

I don’t know why the text came out that way. Maybe because I copied and pasted it from a word document?
