    Hi,

Recently I found my wordfence plugin was updated automatically. This is the first time I encountered such a case. In this plugin’s log, User is None, and Action is manual, and strack trace includes #1 wp-cron.php : do_action_ref_array('wordfence_daily_autoUpdate'). I reviewed all past logs, and such log (user: none with action: manual) is unique. I did not change any wordpress core settings recently.

    Thank you so much!

  • Hi,

I believe a user identified by “none” name indicates that there was an update operation being performed which got triggered by accessing a specific URL on your website. In your case, it was the wp-cron.php, and the scheduled event was wordfence_daily_autoUpdate. Actually, I somewhat disagree to call this as an automatic update, and would rather call this as a manual update which is done by the plugin itself. There might be an “auto” update setting you can find on Wordfence which can be turned off and when you turn it off then WordPress automatic updater may take over the update job.

    Thanks,
    Anthon
