wordbooker is posting the wrong url

when someone rates an item on the website the wrong url is shared by wordbooker.
for example a rating made on this page “https://www.meshgeo.com/item/north-end-electronics/” get shared to the facebook page as it should, but the when it is clicked it goes to a not found url usind the rating authors name and/or the rating title “https://www.meshgeo.com/ait-rating/kari-b-2/”is it possible to force wordbooker to share the first link instead?

So that means that their javascript allows anyone to publish posts on your blog?
The fact that Wordbooker is firing on Custom Post types is actually a deficiency in 2.1. 2.2 wont fire on custom post types unless you specifically enable it.
I’m more than happy to make Wordbooker work properly with free plugins and themes from the WordPress Repositories but I am extremely loathed to try to start making changes to my plugin when I cannot download and use the problematical plugin/theme for myself and work things out.

Phil, Wordbooker can only post to two walls at once – those walls have to be owned/administrated by the FB user that Wordbooker is authenticated against for the blog user making the post. The targets cannot be changed on the fly and it cannot post to non-authorised walls… so it can never post on the timeline of the person making the review.
That sort of functionality really needs to come from the Theme developers so it can happen interactively. FB policy is that a user has to explicitly agree to have something published under their name and that they must have the ability to intervene in the publishing process…
I really do not want to spend time trying to recode Wordbooker to support a feature only available in a non-free theme when I’m already about 18 months behind on other things that need to be done.
As for Facebook – I only friend people on Facebook that I actually know, and preferably have got drunk with.
theme devs only ever offer support on installation and basic out of the box features. Even if it cant post to the raters timeline i still need it to pull the data from the page instead of the post. Isnt there some code you can direct me to that handles where it gets the data? or perhaps how to get wordbooker itself to use the pages url rather than the post url?
But it can’t – Wordbooker publishes the current page/post to Facebook when its published. What you’re asking is for Wordbooker to post a totally different URL (the one of the “parent” page) to the post that is being published (the “review” post).
As I said, Wordbooker gets the URL from the WordPress function : get_permalink($post_id)
So the only way to do it is to know the postID of the original Post and use that rather than the current postID, and that means a LOT of changes inside Wordbooker as the postID is used all over the place.

No … you would have to, if the custom posts are created as children of the parent post, determine that parent using the post_parent parameter and put that into a new global variable and then change every single reference to $post_ID and $post->ID which are used all over the place to that new variable, and add the new global to each relevant function across the whole of the code base.

The thing is that Wordbooker fires on post/page publish – it publishes the current page/post URL. The theme you are using creates new posts, thus Wordbooker publishes those posts to Facebook – with the urls for those new posts. The only fix would be to completely recode how Wordbooker handles its post IDs which is a lot of work and has the potential to break things without even fixing things because I have no idea if the theme you are using is creating child posts or not.

Wordbooker was never designed to work with parent/child posts or this situation where you seem to have unrelated posts that seem to be related, as its nonsensical when it comes to posting the current post to Facebook.
oh well, that sucks because your plugin is the only one i know of that could even hypothetically do this. I guess im going to have to hire someone to rewrite your plugin for me. thanks anyway
The problem is – it might be easy or it might mean such a total rewrite that it sets me back months and introduces so many bugs and issues that I basically get stalled on taking the plugin forward.
I do Wordbooker, and my other plugin, coding in my spare time – I have a full time job and sometimes I come home from work and do not feel like coding at all. Thus I do not want to be in any situation where I’ve committed to providing certain functionality to anyone.
