• At work, we’re using Word to publish directly to WordPress. The problem is that during the transition, the alt text for images is dropped.

Is there any way I can get Word to successfully push the Alt Text into WordPress posts? We publish a whole lot of stuff (30+ posts) simultaneously, so this is kind of a big deal for us. ??

Thanks in advance for helping a n00b!

  • Not that I know of. BTW, Word’s not a great way to go in the first place – it adds all kinds of incompatible code to websites.

I appreciate the response. We’re working from MS Word source material, so it seemed like an easy path going forward. As long as we use very standard MS Word formatting styles, it seems that the extraneous code is kept to a minimum (I had to go through and clear out a bunch of random <span>s though)

I’m definitely open to other methods of getting from Word to WordPress. The biggest problem is that we’ve got people uploading to the site that know very little about HTML or web development in general.

Try using Windows LiveWriter or another local blogging tool instead.
