I just installed Word Stats on two blogs, and found that while stats on the edit page were correct, on the dashboard page some posts were being shown with 0 words. This is both on the diagnostics for too-short posts, and the totals. Keywords from these posts were also missing, as I confirmed by selecting a time period containing only one post.

Based on one of the other threads here, I checked a few of the problem posts for nbsp entities and found them. Replacing the entities with spaces fixed the problem.

This was with WordPress 3.5 and Word Stats 4.3.1.

Ugh. Thanks a lot. I can’t reproduce the nbsp bug in my local enviroment, I’ll do my best to fix it, but I’ll add also an option to use a more conservative method.

    Thanks, I appreciate it.

If it helps to track it down, this is PHP 5.2.17 (not my choice, it’s what the host offers if I want to use XCache) on Apache using FastCGI as the interface.

Hey there, did you guys get this fixed?

I’m using WP 3.5.1 and this doesnt seem to be working too well for me.

Whilst the plugin seems to have activated itself fine and is providing a pretty accurate count summary within each of the post pages for the blog articles, when I look at the Word Stats summary page – I’m seeing nothing but 0s for the blog articles.

Also when I look at ALL posts page, Column (named Level is showing all – except for 1 article which shows a 9)

Pls can someone let me know what could be happening here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx alot.

Thanks for the report. I coded a quick test and finally found one culprit for the 0 words bug. I haven’t had time to put in this plugin lately.

The bug is related to html_entities_decode outputting characters that break the regex search and replace.

Hey Fran, thx a lot for looking into that, appreciate it. Do you think that you’ll be implementing a fix for this anytime soon? Thx alot!

I think I have it fixed already. I’ll be uploading the new code in a few hours, after some rest and a coffee. ??

Mate, you’re a champion – this has got to be the BEST WP plugin support around…!!

Don’t forget to vote in the Compatibility poll on the plugin’s page. ??

I need to hear positive reports before marking issues as resolved.

Hey Fran, how are you? I’ve just updated the plugin but I’m sorry to say that it’s still not working. Can we have a side chat where I can email you a screen dump for you to take a look at perhaps? Pls let me know what works for you. Thx a lot.

Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it to force it to recache everything.

If that doesn’t work, email me to [email protected]
