• I have been using WordPress for years with a number of plug-ins. I’ve never had a problem updating anything before. But after I installed the Word Press Site Kit and I went to update this for the first time in a second, my entire site went down. I thought it might be temporary, but I realized that this plug-in update didn’t crash my site it DELETED ALL OF IT! Not a root directory or my dashboard was left. Got a “you are forbidden” error and then a host of “site or page not found” errors. Fortunatley, the host provider I use backs up every night, so I lost three stories I was working on when I re-installed the entire site but I was horrified. This is not a stable plug-in! WordPress should not be allowing people to use it and update it because it is capable of deleting a careers’ worth of content. Bad bad bad!

This is about a plugin, not WordPress Core.

Please don’t post in the Alpha/Beta forum unless you’re actually testing the alpha/beta version of WordPress (not a plugin or a theme). Also, once WordPress has released a version, it’s not appropriate to post in alpha/beta and you should post in the Fixing WordPress forum:

thank you Mika. I am sorry I put this in the wrong place. But imagine how you would feel if your entire website, decades worth of content, was deleted in seconds by updating a plug in that I assume was actually from Word Press.People need to know about this as clearly it has glitches.

I can’t find any plugin called “WordPess Site Kit”. Do you have a link?

“Fortunately, the host provider I use backs up every night” – this is great. Hopefully you also have your own backups as a just-in-case last-resort fallback.
