• I’m setting up a theme in WordPress and have managed to almost complete the task (I’m a novice), but am being stumped by a link not working. This is the situation:

I created an “About” page in the admin panel. Then I set up a link in the Links section of the admin panel to go to this page. While in this Links panel, I’m actually able to view the About page by clicking on the “View the Link”. However, when I go the the actual blog page to click on the word “About” I get this message: “The requested URL/wordpress/about.html was not found on this server.” When I hover over the word “About” I get the underline for a link, but it does not link to the “About” page.

I can not figure out what is not working. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Note: I don’t have a link to my site, since it’s on my own private server (MAMP) for testing purposes.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I’m familiar with the Links Manager. I guess my problem is that I’m not familiar enough with blogs. You see, what I was referring to was this. I created a fancy styled word “About” and placed it on the blog page (not in a widget or post, just somewhere above the side panel). I wanted to establish this fancy “About” with a link to the About-page.

I am not able to do this. I was able to set up an About link in the Links widget, but I wanted to do it another way with a separately styled word “About”.

    Thanks.

It’s hard to say exactly what you need to do without seeing the example files or site layout to know what you mean, but if you’re just trying to create a link with the word “About” this might help.

I attempted to give you an example here but placing code on these forums proves to be incredibly frustrating. You can style the text for your link using CSS.
