    Hey there!

If you use the Excerpt field, you can control what shows up in your Testimonial.

Then, in your shortcode, add the attribute use_excerpt=”1″ and the excerpt will be displayed!

You can also set the URL of the Read More link, on the Settings Screen, to the page where all of your Testimonials are housed. That way visitors can click through and read the full testimonial.

That should achieve what you are looking for, I hope!

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks, but still having some difficulty. Full testimonial still shows on home page.

I entered the excerpt text in the excerpt box and added the following code into the “text” window of my testimonials page:

    [use_excerpt=”1″]

Perhaps I entered the code incorrectly or in the wrong field?

I meant, try using this shortcode where they are displayed (on the homepage):

    [testimonials count=’3′ use_excerpt=’1′]

Change count to whatever you currently have it set to, of course. Anyways, use_excerpt is just an attribute to add to whatever shortcode you are already using.

Let me know if that helps?

    Thanks!

    Hi Richard,
I’m having the same problem. The read more link doesn’t show even when I use use_excerpt attribute… Any idea on how to solve this?

    Hey Belboschi!

So, you have the shortcode that I have posted above input into the content area of your homepage, but are getting the issue described?

I do see you are using the slider on the linked page – I may need to investigate an issue there.

Any info you can share is appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Richard

    Hi Richard,
I appreciate your time and quick reply. I don’t have the above shortcode inputed on the content area of my homepage, I have it on the linked page. I don’t want the testimonials to show on the homepage.

You see the slider content being somehow cut off on the linked page? I’m not sure what’s happening.

I have contacted my theme’s developer and they have informed me that my theme is not set up with “read more” buttons. That could possibly be the reason why it won’t show with the plugin either, right?

    Hey!

There is an issue that prevents the Excerpt from working if you are using the testimonial cycle functionality. That will be patched today!

    Thanks,
    Richard

So will the be an update for the plugin fixing this issue soon?
    Thank you so much Richard.

    Hey!

Yes, on Saturday a minor update was pushed out that should allow the Excerpt and the Read More functionality to work in the Cycle widget, the same as it works in the single and random shortcodes and widgets.

    Thanks!

As I believe this resolved, I am marking the topic as such.

    Thanks everyone, for your reports!

    Thank you Richard.
