    Hi everybody,

I am trying to improve the website of my friend.
She got a eshop with Woocommerce and 3 products (Jumprope) present different variables of colors (cable; handle…).
I would like to display the picture of the product with colors picked by the buyer.
thank to the “Variations”, I did it properly for 2 products because they propose less than 60 configurations so it didn’t take a long time

BUT the 3rd products has 3 variables and can propose 1440 combinations !!!
I have time to do it but I want to be sure the website will run properly before adjusting all this variations and creating the 1440 images

Do you confirm the woocommerce will support this and will not make the website very very slow ? (I am working on pictures 600x600px).
or do you have any other tips about it ?

Thanks a lot for your help

    Hi there,

That’s definitely a lot of variations – is there a specific reason they’re adding those as variations rather than using something like product addons?

From a performance perspective, a lot depends on the server and isn’t something that the core WooCommerce plugin has any control over. From a user-experience perspective, requiring a customer to work through 1440 variations might hurt the checkout and lead to excessive cart abandonment.

    Hi RK,

thanks a lot for your quick answer.
I am trying the demo of this Addon. It looks interesting but I don’t see properly the advantage compare to the use of Variation ?
Plus I don’t get how to display the picture per color
for example display a red rope if the buyer pick a red color in the Field

    Hi @ben84torag,

Product Add-Ons can be a different way of handling things like color selection and pricing without the need to create all the individual variations. As RK mentioned it will be much lighter on your site’s server, and can be a faster configuration on the front end.

In the case of your jumprope example, you could set up an add-on for color that is multiple choice with an image display field.

This is a great option if you need to alter the price based on the selection or display images as examples of your options.
