Woocommerce Variations

How come when there is no variation for a product, it still shows up as an option on the front end?

For example, there are two types of shirts offered, but only one comes in a ladies cut but customers can still select it as a choice. It does come up saying that it is not available but is there a way to eliminate the choice altogether? It used to be like that but now it is not.
