I’m at loss on what’s wrong, my new site works just fine however everytime I install woocommerce, I always get the “there’s a critical error on this website, check email”.

first i have to note that except for the first time I got the email, I never ever get any other, however I have been able to track the issue down to woocommerce and site works fine everytime I deactivate and delete the plugin.

i have just installed it again, I get the notification that woocommerce is updated however I need to update the database and this is where the issue lies.

for everytime I click on the the blue update button it take me back to the the error page, the main problem is that database update request. I have tried to manually do it from status but the same thing happens (I get to dashboard – click on woocommerce status – land back to the critical error page) it’s frustrating

i checked status and everything checks o so it’s not conflicting with any plugin or theme.

What could be wrong, what do I need to do?!

i should also mention that the first time I got the update database notification after I installed woocommerce and set up a product was when I tried to set up a woo account, gave me suggestions of Google ad listings and jetpack which I selected and boom the issue started (something bout Google ad listings works with updated woo database) I have long since deleted the two plugins.

    Thank you!

    Hi @jumygold,

Thank you for reaching out and providing a detailed explanation of the issue. I understand the issue arises when you try to update the WooCommerce database. This could be due to a number of reasons, but let’s start by checking a few things:

    1. PHP Memory Limit: WooCommerce requires a certain amount of memory to run smoothly. You might want to increase it if it’s less than 64MB.
    2. Plugin Conflict: Although you mentioned that everything checks out in the status, it might still be worth doing a conflict test. Deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce and see if the issue persists. If it resolves, reactivate your plugins one by one until you find the one causing the conflict.

In addition to these steps, it’s also a good idea to reach out to your hosting provider. They may be able to provide some insights if there are any server-level issues that might be causing this problem.

Please try these steps and let us know how it goes.

Thank you for responding. Tried the second option and it wasn’t a plugin conflict. At some point, I got the blank white screen, however, right now I don’t have the issue anymore.
For the next person, i simply went to file manager in my cpanel and deleted the entire woocommerce folder. I have been renaming previously to get back into my dashboard, however this time i deleted it entirely and reinstalled it fresh. Looks good now, update was also super fast, took less than 3mins or thereabout.

I don’t know if that will help anyone but that’s what I did. I knew nothing about WordPress or even web developing previously.

I am going to close this thread as resolved, hopefully I don’t have to open another one.
