Especially this week I got very frustrated. Three translations on a row.

My company and webshop do not send products but deliver them (mealdelivery). I therefor translate al “ship” into “deliver” (offcourse in Dutch “verzend” into “bezorg”). I perform this translation with Loco translate plugin. Every new translation overwrites my translation file, so I have to do everything over and over again.

If you know a better solution (in which I do not have to translate over and over again, after every new translation of Woocommerce is being released) please let me know. It would be highly appreciated.

  • Yes, several posts recommend Loco Translate, but its translations have to be placed in the custom location to be update-safe. The Loco Translate documentation explains about the different places where translations can be placed. And if you succeed in using the custom location, you will have effectively forked the translation file so you will need to update it yourself forevermore.

    Instead, try

“Shipping” is used in various places in WooCommerce. If you want to change “Shipping” as used for the shipping package name, you will need to specify the context when setting up a new string in Say What?

    Original string: Shipping
    Text domain: woocommerce
    Text context: shipping package
Replacement string: <Shipping in your language>

Otherwise the context field would be left blank.

    This method is update-safe.

As lorro mentioned, there’s a couple ways to do it. There’s some good advice there.

    Marking as resolved.

Thank you both. I will look into that.
