    Taxes are only being shown if the address entered is local to me. It’s showing no taxes for addresses outside of my state. Complete coding noob here btw

    Thanks for sharing that screenshot.

    It seems that you have not added any standard tax rates.

    Have you added taxes on any of the other two tabs (reduced rate and zero rate)? If so, kindly share a screenshot of those tabs so that we can check.

    Right. I thought I was supposed to leave that blank so the tax rates would be automatically set depending on the address the customer enters in the checkout stage? And the other two tabs are empty also. I’ve went through the guide and I feel like I’ve followed it to a t. As I said previously, I was under the impression that the tax rates were automatically gathered by woocommerce in the checkout stage once the address is entered. Am I wrong about this? Does it only work for addresses that are local? Will I have to manually enter in standard tax rates for all 50 states and however many countries?

    Just to mention, I see from the status report that you’re using the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax extension. In that regard, kindly check the documentation – Automated Taxes do not appear to be calculating

    Hi @garrywithtwors,

    Just to quote from the extension’s documentation:

    …you only need to collect sales tax from customers in locations where you have a “tax nexus,” which typically means a physical presence. WooCommerce Services uses your store address (WooCommerce > Settings > General) as your “tax nexus”…If you need to charge tax for any other state, you can add a tax rate for that state in addition to using automated taxes to charge customers from that state tax as well.

    Nonetheless, for further details, I would recommend that you create a ticket since this forum is only for supporting the core WooCommerce plugin.
