    Hi,

I have followed all the instructions for setting up the tax. It is currently set up as excluding tax and then including tax in the basket/checkout.

When I click save it is showing these settings in my browser correctly, however on any other device it is showing excluding in the basket too and is not adding on tax at either basket or checkout. I have tried changing it to including tax in both the shop and at the basket/checkout but that won’t work either, but once again this is showing correctly on my own device.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi there!

To have an idea of what you have, could you please share some screenshots of your tax settings? You may include a screenshot of a taxable product from the product settings page and a link to the product in your store too.

For sharing links of the screenshots – I recommend https://snipboard.io/ for easily sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on the page, then paste the URL(s) in your reply.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    Here is the tax settings

These are screenshots from one of our products

This is that same product on the website:

    https://4ipumpingservices.co.uk/product/dab-feka-vs-submersible-pump/

The first variation for example should be £215 exc. VAT so £258 Inc. VAT

This last screenshot is how the above link is appearing on my screen, which is what I am wanting, but if you are to add this product to cart in any other browser it won’t look like this.

    Thank you for your help.

    @elecatch Thanks for posting those.

Have you cleared the page cache in WP Fastest Cache since you made your last changes to your tax settings?

Also, I see that you have set tax to be calculated based on the customer’s shipping address. If you look in your user profile, I guess WooCommerce knows your shipping address and so its able to calculate tax straightaway. On other devices, are you logged in? If not, WooCommerce won’t know your shipping address until one has been entered.

It looks like you only sell to the UK, in which case try setting tax to be calculated based on your shop base address. This address is not dependent on the user, so tax should show every time.

Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately I have tried both of those. I have cleared the page cache both before and after changing the tax to be calculated based on the customers shipping address, I have also tried having it set as based upon customer billing address too but no change. Any other suggestions?

I have my shop base address set up in the general settings tab too.

Please confirm you have set your store address country dropdown to “United Kingdom (UK)” and post a screenshot of your standard rates table which you may know is under Settings > Tax tab.

@lorro – Yes, country dropdown is set to UK

Since I changed it back to ‘ Shop Base Address’ it is not including the tax on my screen either. When changing it to customer billing/shipping address I can see it as inclusive of tax on my computer which makes me think it is a problem with the Shop Base address.

I have uploaded a pic of the store address section in case something is wrong here.

WooCommerce doesn’t know the user’s postcode is IP333QW until either they are logged in and have their shipping postcode set in their user profile, or they have entered that postcode at checkout. Until then, tax will be nil.

Assuming: You are based in the UK and sell only to the UK, then everyone who buys from you pays the same tax. So I would set calculate tax based on shop base address, and your standard rates table is just one line: * * * * 20% The wildcards * mean everyone pays 20%. I shouldn’t put the shop base address in the standard rates table.

@lorro – Brilliant, that worked. Thank you for your help!
