Hi guys,
So i’m trying to figure out what exactly do i need to do to get subscription payments working.

Firstly in the sandbox environment – everything is working fine.

All the problems are in the live environment.

When trying to complete a transaction for a subscription product – i’m getting a
An error occurred while calling the PayPal API. error response.

When i check the debug logs I can see that
[CHECKOUTSTATUS] => PaymentActionNotInitiated
and
[PAYMENTREQUESTINFO_0_ERRORCODE] => 0
but it isn’t clear what’s gone wrong here.

@digamberpradhan If you have a valid license for Subscriptions, you can open a chat or ticket through your account at WooCommerce.com to discuss this in more detail.

In order to use PayPal Checkout with WooCommerce Subscriptions, Reference Transactions need to be enabled on the PayPal account:
https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/subscriptions/faq/paypal-reference-transactions/

Everything works fine in the sandbox environment because Reference Transactions are enabled there by default.

@jessepearson – isn’t the reference transaction only required for variable subscriptions and upgrading or downgrading subscriptions ?

@digamberpradhan Not with PayPal Checkout, Reference Transactions is needed for it to work with Subscriptions over all. If it is not enabled errors are received back from PayPal when trying to purchase.

I have the same problems with the Reference Transactions:

here it is called, that This integration method is deprecated as of January 1, 2017.

@kochhase Reference Transactions is still available, you would just need to call PayPal to have it enabled on your account.

@digamberpradhan I am setting this thread to resolved since no replies have been received.
