Woocommerce Stripe Error: On Place Order click, “Payment Processing Failed”

We are facing an intermittent issue in order processing via Woocommerce Stripe. After filling in the billing details, and clicking on Place Order, the order fails with message “Payment Processing Failed” (we are still in test mode).

We have custom code in place (which validates a certain field in checkout form) and upon successful validation lets the payment proceed. This has worked for a considerable period (3-4 days) of time without any issue and suddenly this error then. Please note that this is not a constant issue, it pops up for some orders and doesn’t pop up for some. Quick help is appreciated.
