Woocommerce status widget not showing on admin dashboard

Hi @kfutter,

To troubleshoot the issue further:

• Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
• Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
• Check if the WooCommerce Status metabox is shown on your dashboard

If the status is shown after doing the above, then you’ll know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, checking the dashboard after each, until you find the one causing the WooCommerce status to disappear.

This seems to be the stock answer given here these days. My theme is already Storefront, and disabling the rest of my plugins would effectively disable my store and site. Not very practical! And how would the use (or not) of a front-end theme have any bearing on the behaviour of the back-end admin site, which is not theme-able anyway?

Still, I guess I have no option but to try it…

OK, just did the advised conflict test, and no difference. Any other ideas?

Since disabling the plugins did not find the culprit, could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce → Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

Just to clarify on the request made earlier, in numerous cases, admin-side problems are caused by conflicts in code either between WooCommerce and your theme, WooCommerce and your plugins, or WooCommerce and custom code on your site. The consequences of these conflicts vary, from some sections of the WooCommerce back end not being displayed or ceasing to function. Thus, when there are anomalies on the back end, testing for conflicts first is important.

When testing, it is generally recommended to do so on a staging site so as not to affect your live site or interrupt your visitors. As explained in the link shared earlier, it’s best to do tests on a staging site, and you can create one with the WP Staging plugin if your host does not provide you with one.

I am following this discussion with great interest as the exact same issue has happened for me. Please try to post a resolution for those of us watching.

I’ve just updated to Woocommerce 5.2.2, and the problem still remains. There also appears to be an issue with the Screen Options panel, as the Jetpack Stats option is there, but unlabelled.

I also have an issue where Woocommerce insists that I haven’t finished the setup (taxes – don’t apply, address – online only), despite running successfully for the last 4 years now. This issue appears to be coincidental with the widget disappearing, so I’m assuming they’re related.

I’ll grab a copy of the requested information and post it here shortly.

Same here. The WooCommerce Status widget is gone and a WooCommerce Setup widget has appeared showing step 4 of 6 even though WooCommerce is fully set up and has been taking orders for almost a year now.

It is inviting me to set up taxes despite the Enable tax rates and calculations box being unticked.

@glicit Pretty much exactly my problem. It’s probable that one of the recent updates to either WordPress or Woocommerce has broken something, so we’ll just have to hope they can fix it soon.

I had the same problem. Even though I have had my website for quite some time, I noticed I had a new widget called Woocommerce Setup. I clicked on the widget and completed the setup by skipping all requirements. After having done this the Woocommerce Status widget reappeared in my Dashboard…

@nifty123 – well, what do you know? It worked for me too! I couldn’t skip all the steps, and was forced to fill in a store address, despite being online-only. After fumbling my way through all the steps, and having to repeat a couple, I’ve finally got my familiar stats and reviews panels back on my Dashboard.

@nifty123 For me, when I click the widget it takes me to https://…/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-admin&task=tax. This page throws a “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page” error even though I am logged in as the admin.

Update on above: I believe the error is due to my having the WooCommerce Admin disabled. I disable it on all sites because my clients hate how it slows down the dashboard.
