    HI

I’ve been googling for ages, days, weeks looking for something or a plugin or something that will allow some extra features in the sidebar menu.

Basically I have a menu with many Categories eg.

    Accessories
    Beauty Products
Brands – The Brands have 35 sub-categories and increasing
    Underneath this is the
    Men
    Nails
    Perfumes
    etc etc
    another 20 Categories.

The main issue I am having is the Brands section of the Category that has too many brands but the client has no choice of that … and wants to display all Brands list on the SIDEBAR menu as sub-category.

The issue is that when we choose a Brand eg. Maybelline then the Sidebar Menu opens up and displays all the other Brand names which is good, but it is like a big long snake and too long that you can’t see the other Categories underneath these Subcategories.

Now I know I can have plugins that allow an Accordian + symbol to open and close the tabs, but when you are in that particular Category it stays open all the time with a particular setting, even moving to other sub-categories within that same “Brands” categories.

I also know that I can have it default to “Closed Accordian” so it stays closed all the time, but when I click on + OPEN it will show all of them in a big huge list.

Is there a way that when I click on the + open that it will only show the first 10 sub-categories (then have a + symbol to view the next 10 or the rest) or something ? Or a scrolling option to view the 35 Brands in the sub-category instead as it is so long ?

Probably no options but thought I would ask as hopefully someone has come across this issue and had a workaround somehow ..

I need to get back to the client on this ..

I wasn’t sure whether to post this question somewhere else also ?

    Thanks again

    Kristin

    Hi Kristin,
I never heard of a plugin that does this, but maybe someone else from the community can help?

What about using a dropdown instead? We don’t have a widget for this for categories, but maybe there’s a plugin for it, or you could create a widget with some custom coding.

    Hi

I’ve actually found a plugin that can do this with this little customisation.

I basically kept googling and then sent a few questions to existing sidebar menu existing plugin people.

YITH Category Accordian can do this feature with some coding.

So just in case someone needs this feature, it works very well for certain Categories that have too many sub-categories in there …

    Thanks
    Kristin
