    Hi experts!

I have a client who recently migrated her WordPress website from self-hosting to Showit hosting. During the migration process, DNS redirections were updated accordingly. However, her databases on the previous hosting platform, including DNS records, were recently erased. These have since been reconfigured to point to Showit’s hosting.

    There is an issue:

    1. She’s using a plugin (WooCommerce Email Customizer plugin) to customize her templates and when the previous database was erased, this stopped working. Unfotunately, this plugin is no longer supported. As a result, the shortcodes used in these emails are not functioning properly.
    2. When the WooCommerce Email Customizer plugin is deactivated to revert to the default WooCommerce email templates, critical links (e.g., password reset, payment links) in the emails are still not working.

Has anyone experienced this? I would greatly appreciate any guidance or solutions to resolve these issues. Thank you!

    Hi @emeshto

Please let me clarify to better understand the situation. Your client migrated to Showit and can’t use the WooCommerce Email Customizer plugin because it’s retired and no longer supported. Also, when you try to adjust the plugin’s email templates, links, passwords, etc. it still doesn’t work. Is that correct?

If yes, since I see that the plugin is already retired and only working for active subscriptions, we suggest using alternatives like MailPoet that allows you to customize WooCommerce emails using its the drag-and-drop editor.

Normally using retired plugins, though may still work for active subscriptions, can cause issues and security risks as WordPress updates over time. This is why we recommend using plugins that are regularly updated. This ensures more stability and better security for your client’s email customizations.

    Hi @reynierc,

Thank you for your response and suggestions to move forward.

I confirm that the Email Customizer is no longer working. I appreciate your suggestion to replace it with MailPoet.

My question concerns the WooCommerce templates. Even after reverting to the original WooCommerce templates, the links in the emails still don’t work. For instance, her WooCommerce store emails now use the default templates, but when I click on a link that should redirect me to the payment page, it instead takes me here: https://prnt.sc/813AIJjDjOB_ (screenshot of the page I land on).

I assumed the Email Customizer was causing this issue, but for some reason, even with the default WooCommerce email templates, the payment links still don’t work.

Do you have any suggestions on how to move forward?

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi @emeshto

Thanks for reaching back! Okay so I think I get a better picture now. When you reverted back to the default WooCommecre template, the users who purchase from the store are able to receive an email with a URL. Then when they click that URL it redirects to the page that you provided here: https://prnt.sc/813AIJjDjOB_

    Is this correct?

The error in the screenshot means the domain name on that link can’t be resolved by the DNS. This might mean the link is set to redirect to a subdomain that isn’t working anymore.

Just wondering, could you share which email notification is being triggered? It’s possible the template is still customized.

I’d recommend checking the email template by going to WooCommerce > Settings > Emails, then selecting the specific template to manage (the one being triggered). You’ll have to follow this guide for custom email templates and investigate how the URL on the email is configured. (Note: you might need to have a bit of experience in PHP code on this part). Let me know how it goes.

    Hi @reynierc,

Thank you for your response. I confirm that this is what’s happening. In the case that this is about a DNS problem, I suppose I need to check the DNS records, too?

Currently, I noticed that the email notifications triggered are Password Reset and payment links for Payment plans.

    I appreciate your assistance.

    Hi @emeshto

It’s a good idea to check the DNS records. But before that, you’d want to confirm which URL the template is actually pointing to. From the image you shared, it shows “url5137.kimberlywilson.com.” This might be a deleted subdomain from previous records, or maybe something like “shop.kimberlywilson.com” (just an example) changed to “url5137.kimberlywilson.com” because it couldn’t find it.

By checking the template, you can get a better idea of what’s missing. If it’s about password reset, it should be this template: https://snipboard.io/aY352c.jpg

Since you mentioned that DNS records were updated, another good option is to look at your previous name servers, if you still have access to it. You might find the exact DNS records you need there.
